Studio Brief 02 - Design for Screen: Colour Consideration

The colour of the app was influenced by the idea of green (successful delivery) and red (unsuccessful delivery) where you would get either colour show up depending on the outcome of a parcel upon delivery. As a result, the considered design decision of the yellow is because yellow is the middle/in-between colour of green and red, making it the neutral colour. The yellow indicates that it is not influenced to a particular definitive side (green or red) but is instead, impartial.

The yellow tone that was deliberately chosen for the whole app (#FFF960) is because the particular colour looks bright, exciting, prompt, lively and joyous which is how users should feel when they receive their parcels. As a previous research had shown, people were negative and frustrated when receiving parcels as they consider it as a hassle, which it should not be. The colour was to reinforce the thrill and trepidation of receiving a parcel.

Since the app uses neutral colours, the yellow makes the app stand out and would make it look less dull than it should.
